Gaming PCs can do more than just play games. They can be long-term hardware projects. Even the most well-built gaming setups require maintenance (some more than others) or they may break down, leaving you stranded when you wanted to play a fast game of The Sims.

This post will cover some crucial tools for diagnosing issues with your gaming PC. Here are a few tools and apps to help you get the most out of your gaming experience. We’ll include a few products here, but they’re not the only ones available.

Gaming Toolkit

Most PCs don’t require a full screwdriver set to be maintained. Most PCs and laptops can be disassembled and reassembled with a Philips head screwdriver. Having a comprehensive kit ensures you have all the tools you need, even if you’re not upgrading a gaming PC. They’re especially useful for updating gaming laptops, which employ specialized low-profile screws.

In fact, I’ve owned it for a few years. Great value for money, with enough parts to disassemble desktop and laptop PCs. a magnetic bit and an extension arm No more fragments inside your PC!

If you want a cheaper alternative, Apsung’s 37 in 1 Precision Screwdriver Set has almost everything you need for PC projects.

Gaming Duster

Compressed air cans (also known as gas dusters) are fantastic for cleaning your PC, but they aren’t great for the environment. These canisters commonly contain difluoroethane (HFC-152a), trifluoroethane (HFC-143a), and other powerful greenhouse gases.

Investing in a high-pressure electric duster like this one saves money and saves trees. They produce compressed air-like pressure without utilizing toxic chemicals. Some are wary of using anything electric near PC components, but as long as you don’t try to game on the computer while cleaning, you’re fine.

While a keyboard and mouse are great for most PC games, a classic gamepad can be superior for racing and VR games. Gamepads can also improve the emulation of console games.

Installer Windows USB

Windows 10 tends to break itself with upgrades… or anything else. Driver errors, storage issues, and other potential issues can render your PC inoperable. Even while most Windows 10 PCs come with a recovery partition, those partitions can’t execute a full Windows reinstallation if something catastrophic happens. So, keep a flash drive with a recent copy of Windows 10 handy.

High-end headset

You can’t hear your teammates over that $9 USB headset you bought on sale six years ago. A premium headset with a high-quality microphone offers excellent audio quality, and depending on the model, you may obtain other perks.

A SATA to USB adapter is also useful in case of disaster (or when a family member begs you to rescue files from their old PC). This utility comes in several flavors, but they all let you connect SATA-based internal disks through USB. The drive can be removed from a dead PC and connected to another computer with the adapter. This $7 adaptor has come in helpful a couple times.

These unpowered adapters only operate with 2.5-inch SATA drives. If your PC has larger 3.5-inch drives, a plug-in variant (like this) may be better.
